Pastoral Structure

Pastoral Support Available

Every parent wants to be assured that their child is happy at school and at Ballymoney High School, we pride ourselves on providing effective pastoral supports that meet the individual needs of our pupils.  We offer in-school counselling three days a week with two different school counsellors.  Pupils can access counselling support in a number of ways e.g. via a self-referral drop-in box, via self-referral through an advertised QR code, by speaking to their teacher or Head of Year or by simply attending any of the two weekly drop-in sessions.

We have a dedicated ‘Emotional Health and Wellbeing Room’ that pupils may use throughout the school day, as well as a sensory room to help pupils relax.

We have specifically trained 6th Form ‘Restorative Practice’ Peer Mentors who are available for ‘Restorative Practice’ sessions with pupils to help resolve low level conflict using restorative chats.

We also have a team of trained ‘Take 5’ Pupil Wellbeing Ambassadors who are available for peer support and who help raise awareness across the school about the importance of positive mental health.
