Learning Support Centre

The Learning Support Centre (LSC) provides the opportunity for young people with a range of learning needs including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Behavioural and Emotional Wellbeing (SBEW) to be educated in their local post-primary school alongside their family and friends.  It is a small class setting where the work is tailored to the needs of the pupils with the support of the class teacher and qualified learning support assistants.

Social Communication Class

The Social Communication Class (SCC) provides the opportunity for young people with a statement of educational need for Communication and Social Interaction Difficulties (CSID) as a result of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to be educated in their local post-primary school alongside their family and friends.  It is a small class setting with a bespoke timetable to suit the needs of each pupil.  Sensory breaks are incorporated into the school day. Pupils study the mainstream curriculum at a level and pace that suits their needs. They attend practical lessons and Maths with the support of a Learning Support Assistant.
